TOGETHER, WE GROW THE GAME.

The ECPPS Elementary Soccer League, in partnership with Carolina United Soccer Association, is dedicated to bringing the joy of soccer to students across Elizabeth City–Pasquotank Public Schools.

Our mission is to introduce young athletes to the game in a fun, safe, and supportive environment where teamwork, sportsmanship, and player development are at the heart of everything we do.

Through this partnership, we provide students with the opportunity to build essential skills both on and off the field. Players learn the fundamentals of soccer while also developing confidence, discipline, and leadership. The league serves as a bridge between school-based athletics and community-level play, ensuring that every child has access to quality coaching, encouragement, and the chance to fall in love with the game.

This effort was made possible through the shared vision of Tony Gomez, Director of Coaching for Carolina United Soccer Association and teacher at Elizabeth City Middle School; Dr. Keith Parker, Superintendent of ECPPS; and Dr. Katina Jones-Waples, Executive Director of Elementary Schools. Their collaboration brought the league to life, combining professional expertise, educational leadership, and a passion for giving students new opportunities to grow.

The league also takes pride in using certified NCHSAA referee staff, ensuring that games are both fair and educational for players. Among them are Lizzy Haynes, a Carolina United player and new referee, and Alex Fernandez, both students at Mid-Atlantic Christian University who are gaining valuable officiating experience through the program. Supporting them is veteran referee Elton Stone, an Aerospace Professor at Elizabeth City State University with over 30 years of officiating experience.

This partnership demonstrates the incredible power of soccer to bring people together—students, teachers, parents, and community members—all united by their shared love of the game and commitment to nurturing the next generation of athletes.
